The need for team building activities

By Adam Smith

A team is the foundation to a good organization. A team can consist of two people or even more than a hundred people. Whatever be the size of the team, the qualities required to be a team are the same. They are communication, cooperation and team spirit. The lack of any one f these qualities in the team will reduce the strength and efficiency of the team. Hence, for increasing the growth of the organization, team building activities have to be done.

Team building activities should be included into he normal schedule of the employees. Supervisors should make sure that the activity should not be missed by any of the employees and that they have to be present. These activities are very useful as ice breaking methods during freshers training. Like minded people tend to get together during this activities.

These activities can be carried out either outside or indoors within the office. They can be either games or activities given to the team members. A typical activity would consist of a team task followed by a group discussion session. The session would discuss the problems faced by the members of he different teams, and how they found a solution to it. During such a discussion one can get more than one solution for a single problem.

Just sitting around in the office, can make the person slow at thought. It would be better that the person be given tasks in a team, so that the normal work has to be done along with the team work. These team building activities also give the person the stamina to withstand long hours of work as a team.

Team building activities are very necessary to improve the qualities and efficiency of the team and should be included into the schedules of every single organization.
