1. An employee survey is important to any boss or Entrepreneur, as it gives them insights and info. Just as a personality profile paints an image of who a persons natural relating style is, an employee survey displays an image of the business in total, and who it actually is.

2. When done properly , an employee survey can reveal lots of the concealed issues and Problems that exist in your business whilst highlighting everything that are working well. You may have seen the diagram of the iceberg tip sticking out out of the water. Well, the employee survey can help you to expose the largest part of the iceberg, which is usually hidden! Wouldn't you like to have that kind of info?

3. Armed with all the nitty gritty about your business operations and the feedback comments from your staff (if you decide to ask them for it), you really have a big opportunity to make changes which will positively impact the base line. You know that any issue or problem in your business is costing you money, by the proven fact that staff are using energy and time to address these issues, and regularly it goes uncovered for a long time. Occasionally it is a process issue that you are unaware of, and there are big implications for you not fixing it.

4. You may also discover what kind of culture your business is operating within. The culture is something that you don't propose to create, as such, however it's something that exists as a consequence of the management, characters, structure and processes in the business. If your business is suffering from low quality service or performance, often the culture will reflect that.

If you do not have staff that are happy to work with you, then they are not going to want to put in much effort to work conscientiously and help things run smoothly. Your image to the external world is of the utmost importance so you not only attract the best staff to work for you, but that consumers will wish to deal with you.

An employee survey does take time and effort to put into place, and you Must do it correctly so that you don't finish up causing cynicism and detachment in your staff. The way you design it and administer it is directly related to the quality of your outcomes. So take the time to ensure you get this part right.

An employee survey is all about you accepting accountability for what's going on in your business. If you haven't done one for over 12 months, it is time you probably did.
