Home Business Opportunities: How Do You Know What To Believe?

By Melissa Stubbs

Anyone who has ever thought about checking out the best home business opportunities like confronted a list of hundreds of choices. These businesses are all looking for people to act as distributors, independent sales representatives or affiliates and so they make themselves look like the answer to your financial dreams.

When you begin your search, you'll soon discover that every business has the top commissions, the best marketing system, the most efficient back room, and the product most desired by the public. How can you really find the best business for you? Many people read reviews believing that's the best way to find independent information.

Reading reviews can be a smart thing-particularly when searching for a business opportunity. But it's important to keep in mind that most "reviews" are written by people trying to recruit you into their business. That doesn't mean the information isn't valid-in most cases it is. It does mean, however, that the focus will be entirely positive and won't give you a balanced look at the business.

There are some phrases you should watch out for:

*This business virtually runs itself.

*You can get rich without working-in one month.

*Set up your website and watch the money roll in.

*This "undiscovered" marketing system is sure to make you scads of money.

It's important to wade through the hype and get to the meat of the business. Find answers to these questions: What is the product? What is the commission structure? How much will you have to spend initially and long-term? How much can you realistically expect to earn?

Perhaps the best advice any home business owner will give you is to listen to that voice in your head that tells you whether to avoid a business or get involved. If you are enthusiastic about the product and the business itself, then others will be, too. But if you're confused and don't understand what your role is, perhaps you should look for something else.
