Tips for promoting your business- The ABCs of Working in a Forum

By John Kirzno

Creating traffic through the Internet can provide you with a substantial amount of benefits. Unfortunately it's considered "uncharted waters" for most people that try to do it. If you don't want to take an inexpensive approach to marketing then look over our tips for promoting your business through forums. It could become one of the best places to generate sales.

We've spent years gathering information, testing strategies and figuring out the best ways to use a forum when promoting a business. Today we're going to give you a few of them.

#1 Finding the Right Forums (2-4)

Obviously you want to find forums that will have some sort of relevancy to your business. This will take a little research on your part, but the time spent on it is going to be worth it. Also, make sure you choose somewhere between two to four forums. Trying to use several forums at the same time can be too much for most people, especially beginners.

Once you've chosen the proper forums it will be time to create your accounts. This is where our
other tips for promoting your business will come into play.

#2 Build a Profile

Most of the forums out there will allow you to create a profile. It's very important to provide plenty of details in this area. This should definitely include your website, because you never know who is going to be stopping by from time to time. Some of them could become customers, so your website link has to be on it.

It's also recommend you place a photo in your profile. This can be a photo of you or the company logo. We recommend the latter, simply because it helps get the business name out there. The point is, the more information you give out, the easier it will be for people to understand what your company has to offer.

#3 Adding the Signature Link

If you're not familiar with a signature link, it's where you place your website URL and advertise it without actually promoting it. You're going to be making "Posts" and starting "Threads" and every time you do your website link will be at the bottom. So, the more active you are in the forum, the more advertisements that will be present.

#4 Start with an Introduction

Once everything is in place, it's time to make your initial introduction. Every forum has an area so individuals can tell everyone else who they are and what they do. When you create your post, it's a good idea to give people friendly information about yourself. The signature link will provide your advertisement, so don't use this area to sell anything.

This is one of the best tips for promoting your business when it involves a forum. If your introduction tells everyone you are there to help (and you do help others), they will be more than willing to spread the word about your business or your profile on the forum.

#5 The Building Process

It's best to create a goal on the amount of time you will be spending in each forum. Your goals should also include the amount of posts you plan on making. Some people try to make 10 posts a day in every forum they are a member. Others might do more or less, because it depends on the amount of time you have available.

In the end, if you use these tips for promoting your business, it won't be long before traffic starts coming from each one of these forums.
